Aqui eu fiz o teste, o resultado foi normal inclusive no consumo de
processador:

==> FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE-p10

# ping -s1000 -c50 -i.1 127.0.0.1
PING 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1): 1000 data bytes

--- 127.0.0.1 ping statistics ---
50 packets transmitted, 50 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 0.026/0.043/0.103/0.015 ms

==> FreeBSD 7.2-STABLE

# ping  -s1000 -c500 -i 0.01 127.0.0.1

--- 127.0.0.1 ping statistics ---
500 packets transmitted, 500 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 0.015/0.022/0.170/0.013 ms

Porém fazendo o teste com flood, houve perda:

==> FreeBSD 6.1-RELEASE-p10

# ping -f -s1000 -c5000 127.0.0.1

--- 127.0.0.1 ping statistics ---
5000 packets transmitted, 3483 packets received, 30% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 0.019/0.032/0.680/0.042 ms

==> FreeBSD 7.2-STABLE

# ping  -s1000 -c5000 -f 127.0.0.1
PING 127.0.0.1 (127.0.0.1): 1000 data bytes

--- 127.0.0.1 ping statistics ---
5000 packets transmitted, 3480 packets received, 30.4% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 0.009/0.015/0.482/0.026 ms

Mas mesmo com flood, o consumo do processador continuou normal.
