Adaptors exist which can convert a 4-pin Molex connector to a SATA
power connector. However, because the 4-pin Molex connectors do not
provide 3.3 V power, these adapters provide only 5 V and 12 V power
and leave the 3.3 V lines unconnected. This precludes the use of such
adapters with drives that require 3.3 V power. Understanding this,
drive manufacturers have largely left the 3.3 V power lines unused.
However, without 3.3 V power, the SATA device may not be able to
implement hotplugging as mentioned in the previous paragraph.

é pra isso que seve o 3.3V. ( Hot Plug )

Reparando um erro que eu mesmo falei. É  IMPOSSIVÉL conectar um cabo
sata e Power sata em um hd  SAS os  conectores foram feitos diferentes
justamente para prevenir este tipo de conexão.

a placa SAS aceita  funcionar com hd  SATA ( com a interface sata ->
sas bus  ou  sata -> sata to sas adapter  -> sas bus ) mas a placa
SATA não funciona com hd SAS

outra coisa você acaba de mencionar que usa um servidor DELL
qual modelo ?

Se ele tem uma gaveta que vc  encaixa os  hd e pluga ela no servidor
isso pelo que conheço é um back plane .
e  isso é  HOT SWAP.
